Janie's Memories

By the middle of 1950, after spending five years at the camp, and fullfilling the necessary requirements, such as proving nationality, lack of any criminal charges, showing certification for work, passing numerous health examinations and finding a sponsor in America, they were ready to be moved to a Resettlement Camp. It would be another 18 months before they would reach America. By April 1951, the last of the displaced people left Camp Wildflecken, and it was taken over by the U.S. Army.
